Since its inception, Sigma Gamma Rho has promoted unity among women and for years many chapters worked with individuals who were not members of Greek-lettered organizations. The Philo auxiliary has grown to represent hundreds of women who have contributed countless hours of community service and thousands of dollars to further Sigma Gamma Rho's aim to enhance the quality of life within every community.
Six women organized the Westchester Alumnae Philo affiliate in September 1996: Sandra Brown, Lavern Daniels (deceased) Charlena Martin, Diane Britton(deceased), Veronica Sutton and Dorothy Williams. The Philos are committed to community service. In addition to working with the Westchester Alumnae chapter, they have been involved with organizations such as: "Women in Need", the St. Augustine Food Pantry, Concourse House (a home for single mothers) and the Veterans Hospital.
